Words: The Most Powerful Element of Guided Imagery
by Edward J Longo – ABH CCH RBT
Words Can Inspire Transformation. Words portray thoughts, feelings, emotions, ideas and ever so much more. They bridge the gap between the conscious and the subconscious, and always provide infinite possibilities. Yet this Secret Weapon that is freely available to all is way too often underestimated, or misunderstood. Normally, people love to be engulfed, surrounded, and entertained by words used in stories, speaking, and tales expressed in books. That's why advertising and the media are such a booming industries. That's why people read newspapers... it's why people love reading about stories they've experienced themselves. And the more the person can become a confident story teller, the more people will become attracted to that voice, that personality, that therapist, or that entertainer.
How Can We Utilize WORDS for Making Positive Changes? The keys to all hypnotic inductions are the Hypnotic WORDS, and the soothing, positive, reassuring manner in which they are executed. They have a specific energy and can be a very powerful influence on people, affecting their truths. Hypnotic WORDS delivered in the right rhythm and tones have an astonishing impact consciously. But when bypassed by the conscious mind, which restricts and edits, they become even more profound in the altered, subconscious state. Since you have been mesmerized through advertising, commercials, social interactions, and other means, negative messages have become imprinted within your subconscious. Transforming these self-defeating messages is the task of the hypnotist. The objective is to alter, reverse, or eradicate the condition so that you, the subject, will become free of the psychologically damaging influences. While the mind, through repetitious bombardment, has accepted the notion that it may be prone to failure in all endeavors, the hypnotist can induce suggestions and, virtually, reverse the infliction. Through the hypnotist's voice the Hypnotic WORDS can be delivered with such an infiltrating impact, the subconscious mind could literally enable one to alter the course of life for the best. Practice speaking aloud, discovering the right timbre and cadence of your voice, and you will have discovered the foundation of a good hypnotist.
Words, when delivered positively, are the life-blood of communication! When things feel POSITIVE everything falls into place. In concert with the hypnotist's WORDS, subliminal sounds serve equally well as they pacify the emotions; becoming formidable tools in penetrating the subconscious mind. Subliminal sounds (or background sounds,) played or recorded during the hypnotic trance aid in inducing the hypnosis. The sounds of a ticking clock or a metronome, musical instruments, animal calls, running water, ocean waves, and singing voices are all very effective means of soothing us and summoning the power of the subconscious mind. A great example of this is when a mother sings her child to sleep. The short, soothing song, classified as a "lullaby" has pacified many a baby to the point of falling asleep in its mother's arms -- a perfect example of a subconscious induction, and how it affects the mind. Other incidents, such as falling asleep during plays, operas, and movies are all reactions to subliminal inducements. Dozing off behind the wheel due to staring at the white line is another subliminal inducement -- a classic state of trance.
Grieving is a natural process, which I never thought I would experience personally. Of course, I know that that was never true. Whether it involves the loss of a precious pet, a friend, a very dear loved one, or a close family member, if it hasn’t happened to you yet, it will eventually.
Over the years I have experienced different forms of loss. One day I took one of our dogs to the vet to have a lump on his chest removed. Within hours I received a rather frantic call from my wife. Between her sobs she told me that our vet had just called. Samson’s growth was actually the tip of a massive...
We’re at the beginning of a new decade. The end of 2009 left many people shell-shocked from the world-wide economic meltdown. Thousands have lost jobs, homes and life savings. But, as with any adversity, humans have the ability to recreate themselves, to create a better future.
However, change – whether on a global scale or personal – starts with thought. To change your weight, your finances, your outlook on life you have to change how you think. There is power in thought. It is where creativity begins. If you cannot perceive of yourself as being slim, it’s unlikely that...
Let's face it. Everyone has to deal with stress. However, how do we know that our stress level is so excessive that it affects our health and a bad sort of way? I am focusing here of what is known as negative stress. Generally, this occurs when a person's ability to handle a situation is exceeded by the perceived difficulty. For many people this motivates them to look within and find resources, which may be used to increase their level of performance and confidence. For others, stressful situations may cause them to automatically cower, become defensive, and do their best to hide and avoid....
